How can you add a little “extra something” that will really make your yearbook POP? Look no further than Clip Art available through School Annual. Clip art can be used in a few different ways to enhance your book, and some of the main ways you can incorporate them are for: filling in blank spots, making special memory pages, to tie a page together, coordinate clip art with page backgrounds and enhancing yearbook themes.
BLANK SPACE
The first way you can use clip art is to fill in “blank space” on a page. Maybe your classroom pages are a bit uneven because not every class has the same amount of kids per classroom. There may be slight variations on the pages and if a class has fewer children in it than others, there may be some “extra space” at the end of the page. Why not add a fun graphic? You can add their grade level, a fun general school graphic like school books or something more personal like an image from a favorite field trip.
FILL IN THE BLANK
Another way you can use clip art is to create a special “memory page” for kids to fill in to remember their year at school. You can create a list of a few things for kids to fill in the blanks. For example if you list “best book I read this year”, use a clip art of a book or if you have other fill in the blanks with “funniest thing that happened this year” or “the thing I am going to miss most about this year” you can select from a variety of emoji faces to coordinate with the feelings listed like a happy face for funniest moment or a crying face for missing school. This is such a fun way for kids to feel like they contributed to their yearbook and adding in clip art to enhance a page like this definitely makes it more kid friendly than just having lines for them to fill in.
TYING IT ALL TOGETHER
A great way to use clip art is to tie a page together. Maybe you have a page dedicated to all the “specials” classes that the students take such as Physical Education/gym, art, music or language. Try grouping pictures from each of those special classes together and then adding in clip art to help designate where pictures from each class would be. It’s an easy way for kids to immediately identify what the pictures represent. If the kids see a graphic of music notes in one area, they know that there will be pictures from music class or if they see paintbrushes that the pictures must from Art a flag for language classes or a kid playing a sport for PE/gym. It’s a great way especially for even the littlest classmates to be able to flip through the yearbook and easily find where certain things are in the book.
THEMED PAGES
Another great way to use clip art is to coordinate with page backgrounds and yearbook themes. Say for example you created a page for a “Winter Carnival/Holiday celebration”. There are many snowflake background pages that you could use to create the layout and then you could enhance the page by adding more individual snowflakes or holiday lights on the corners of pictures to make the whole page work together to reflect the spirit of the event. In the same respect, clip art is GREAT to help with page titles. You can center a page title and then add small pieces of clip art on either side to make the title really stand out. For example, if you are creating a page for a field trip to a science museum or a science night event, put the title in the center and add graphics of science beakers or a microscope to add a little extra to the title.
YEARBOOK THEME
Clip art can also be used to coordinate with the overall theme of the book. Maybe you select and “Under the Sea” theme for your book. There are many interesting clip art selections associated with that theme that can really carry the idea over the entirety of the yearbook. You can select from all of the clip art pieces associated with your theme in many different parts of you book from selecting Grade level headings, or page division for certain activities or events.
